While the string types comes in plus sizes, that doesn’t mean she’s going to want to wear one. Note her dress size too as some lingerie comes in that size too. If all her current lingerie is in black, take a hint that’s a color she likes. It’s doubtful she’s going to suddenly want something in yellow. However, you might try buying her a black with another color accent as a way of slipping some color into the wardrobe.
